AMAR CHITRA KATHA SCHOLARSHIP.

The ACK Media, an entertainment and education company launched the Amar Chitra katha scholarship in memory of Anant Pai, popularly known as Uncle Pai, for his founding of the comics series for children. The scholarships open to children in the 10-15 age groups and it will be an annual event from this year.

The scholarship is aimed at improving the awareness among the youngest generation about Indian culture. The scholarship forms will be available free at all Big Bazaar stores across India from July 14 to August 7 and online (www.amar chitrakatha.com/scholarships).The scholarship evealuation is based on a written quiz on India. The quiz has both multiple choice and long form questions. The quiz will be evaluated by a panel of thre eminent judges.

Prize money: The scholarship awardees will be announced in a grand finale on the Children’s Day. The national winner will get a scholarship of Rs. 11 lakh. There will be 71 city winners, who will each get a scholarship of Rs. 25,000. A scholarship worth Rs. 5,000 in kind each will given to 144 city runners up. The University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates for the year 2011-12 respectively under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowships for SCs / STs to undertake advanced studies & research in sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Universities & Colleges for pursuing full time studies leading to M.Phil / Ph.D degree. This fellowship is applicable only for those SC/ST candidates who are not availing of the benefit of JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CAPART FELLOWSHIPS.

Council for Advancement of People’s Action & Rural Technology (CAPART), under the aegis of Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India, invites applications from scholars for the award of two (2) fellowships for the year 2011-12 under the CAPART Fellowship Programme for Third Sector Research for undertaking research projects on Indian voluntary sector, including action research, and generation of research based studies that could facilitate the dissemination of knowledge on voluntary sector and civil society organizations and their intervention strategies. The proposals may belong to any of the disciplines of public Administration, Rural Development, Rural Management, Social Work and Law.

Scholars working as Readers /Associate Professors or Professors in Universities recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or other academic / research institutions of repute duly recognized /accredited by the relevant accreditation bodies established by the Central Government or a State Government; or superannuated scholars from these categories; or scholarsh who are currently unemployed but fulfill the UGC criteria for being appointed as Reader/Associate Professor or Professor as described above and who are not currently availing themselves of the benefit of any fellowship  of UGC, or the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), or other such institutions; may apply. The minimum eligibility criteria, amongst others, will include research papers published for at least 3 years in journals of international repute, or 5 years in the case of Indian research journals.

The duration of the fellowship shall be as per the recommendation of the Empowered Committee constituted in CAPART for the fellowship scheme, but shall not exceed two years from the commencement of the fellowship. The details of the scheme may be seen at CAPART‘s website (www.capart.nic.in).

ADMISSION IN TO KARNATAKA UNIVERSITY DHARWAD.

Applications are invited for admission to the One Year, interdisciplinary course called “International Diploma in Reproductive Health Management”, for the academic year 2011-12. This is regular full-time course of one year duration spread over two semesters.
