The Hcarihara Mardaraj Distance Education Centre, Berhampur University came in to existence in the year 1987. Over the years the distance education centre has been able to provide quality & socially relevant education to the socially, economically & educationally backward students of the tribal dominated districts of Orissa in general and South Orissa in particular.
The Distance Education Centre is offering 3 year degree courses (+3 arts & commerce), post graduate courses in English, oriya, history, political science, economics, mathematics, education, public administration, M.Sc. in physics, botany, zoology, chemistry, marine sciences (i. oceanography, ii. Marine biology), M.Com, LL.M (for fresher’s & practicing advocates and judicial officers from the session 2011-2012). Professional courses such as MBA, MCA, PG Diploma courses in computer applications, marketing management, banking finance, industrial safety & environmental management , yogic science (DYS) & communicative English. The admission to the above courses normally takes place during July, for which advertisement is being given in the popular oriya/English dailies during june/july every year. To make admission, student-friendly spot admission has been introduced at +3 levels during 2010-11. The spot admission process is likely to be extended to post graduate courses 2011-12.
