Eligibility:

CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIPS.
The University of Cambridge on Monday announced a new scholarship
Programme for Indian students in honour of prime Minister Monmohan Singh. The Manmohan Singh Undergraduate Scholarship Programme starting from 2010 will provide full funding, covering fees and means-tested maintenance for undergraduate study in any subject at any of the collages that are part of the university.
A $ 1.5 million fund has been set up to support Indian students it will be launched with gifts from Sir Evelyn and Lady Lynn forester de Rothschild through the Eranda Foundation and the Sunil Bharti Mittal-Ied Company, Bharti Airtel, Vice-Chancellor of the university Alison Richard announced at a press conference here.
The University is honoured that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is such a distinguished Cambridge alumnus, has agreed to land his name to this important initiative. This is another great example of the breadth and depth of the Cambridge India partnership. As the programme develops, there are expected to be up to 10 Manmohan Singh undergraduate Scholars Studying at the university”, said prof . Richard.
“This scholarship will be a need-based programme. Interested students can apply to the university or any of the 28 collages under it. Of the selected students, scholarships will be awarded on the basis of their financial aid need, which will be assessed by the Cambridge Overseas Trust” she pointed out.
In a message released by the university on Monday, Dr. Singh said he was humbled by the honour and expressed confidence that the programme would not only help strengthen relations between the peoples of India and the U.K. but also serve “our shared objective of creating a better world based on equity and justice”
Dr. Singh graduated from Cambridge with a First in Economics in the late 1950s. The university that has entered its 800th year of existence also launched three Manmohan Singh Scholarships for post graduate students at St. John’s College, Cambridge,in 2007.
SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE).
‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (INSPIRE) being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi invites application from eligible candidates for Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) component of INSPIRE.
About INSPIRE: Programme includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (Seats), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC). The Scheme SHE is focused on attraction of talent to study of natural / basic Sciences at the Bachelor and Master’s level Education. SHE is currently limited to support for educational programmes at BSc, BSc (Hons). MSc and integrated Master’s level course in Sciences leading to MSc in any branch of natural and basic Sciences namely Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences and Life Sciences.
Total of 10,000 Scholarships are available annually under SHE starting April 2008. The Scholarships are limited only to the candidates studying courses in natural / basic sciences (B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.), integrated M.Sc.) in any one of the recognized institutions in India. Eligibility criterion for the scholarships are A. performance in board examination within the cutoff threshold (of top 1%) for each state or central board examination at the class X and class XII level and B. performance in any of the specified competitive examinations within stipulated cut off ranks. The eligible applicant must be already enrolled in to degree level education in natural / basic sciences in any of the recognized institutions in India.

K.C. MAHINDRA SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POST-GRADUATE STUDIES ABROAD.
Applications are invited for the K.C. Mahindra Scholarships for the year 2009 for advanced studies in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Medicine & Business Management including the study of Military, Naval and Aviation Sciences.
The maximum amount of scholarship payable to any scholar shall not exceed Rs. 95,000/-. Applicants for these scholarships are required to satisfy the following conditions:
1. They must possess a First Class degree or an equivalent diploma of the same standard from a recognized Indian university.
2. They must have secured admission or have applied for admission in reputable foreign universities for courses commencing from September, 2009 but not later than February, 2010.
Candidates studying in the Final Year of degree or diploma courses are also eligible to apply, provided they produce their Final Year Certificate before end of June, 2009. Government and Quasi-Government Officers with a creditable academic record, going abroad for specialized qualifications are also eligible to apply.
Preliminary application should be forwarded to the manager, K.C. AWARD OF STATE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS OF ORISSA.
Biju Patnaik University of Technology Orissa, Higher Education Department, the State Government has introduced a Merit-cum-means Scholarship Scheme for the student of Orissa pursuing degree level courses in the field of Engineering (& MBBS, BDS).
